Minister arrested for propositioning a male undercover cop
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A Baptist minister who thinks homosexuals can become heterosexuals has been charged with propositioning an undercover male police officer.
Police say the Reverend Lonnie Latham was arrested January Third in Oklahoma City.
He was released the next day on bail.
Latham says he was set up in an area where he was "pastoring to police."
His lawyer says Latham will plead innocent.
Just the same, he's resigned as senior pastor of South Tulsa Baptist Church. He's also stepped down from two Baptist leadership positions.
Latham has said he supports befriending gays and lesbians and trying to convince them they can become heterosexual, but says they must accept Christ as their savior and renounce homosexuality.
